Beyond the Cliffs of Moher, by Darlene Walton, is arranged for both small and large harps. No sharps or flats are required. In fact, Darlene was working for us during the time she wrote this book and she had Harpsicle™ Harps very much in mind. Beyond the Cliffs of Moher has a wide variety of Irish tunes, including Danny Boy and Greensleeves. Some are easy and some are more challenging. Fingering and chord notations are included for each of the forty-two tunes. The range is from C below middle C on the low end, to the high G two and one half octaves above middle C.

Before she retired, Darlene was a part of the Rees Harps family so she definitely had Harpsicle® Harps in mind when she was writing this book. The wide selection of tunes in Classics and More includes many classical pieces as well as several well-known tunes and three original pieces. The selections range from easy to intermediate level. The fingering and chords are included for each piece.

There is a four-page tutorial at the front of the book to instruct on how to play from a fake book. Each selection has the melody line, or the tune of the song, complete with the name of each note, the fingering, and the chords to play if you want to make the song fuller.

There are no sharps or flats. So if you don’t have levers on your harp, that’s fine. If you can’t read music you can still play these songs. They are quick and easy to master.

These 21 Japanese traditional songs are in a lovely spiral bound book.

Japanese Folksongs for the Smaller Harp; Cherry Blossoms - Songs for the Harp from the Koto tradition for the 26 string harp, by Deborah Dahl Shanks, is arranged for smaller harps, later beginner to intermediate levels. Sharps and flats are included. “Cherry Blossoms” is a set of traditional, folksongs from the Japanese Koto music tradition. These pieces were transcribed from the original manuscript for two-part ensemble playing, but adapted for the smaller lever harp with one octave below middle C and at least 26 strings. They range in difficulty from mid-beginner to intermediate ability. Some pieces come in both an easier (mid-beginner) arrangement as well as more difficult one (intermediate). There is an openness and simplicity to the character of these pieces that should be mainteded, often with a pentatonic or modal flavor.
